FROM MY ANXIOUS BODY I CAN'T PRODUCE, SO I MAKE
Spatial installation with sculptural objects and exploring my own anxieties within an anxious society
During the last year of the MA Fine Arts, I carried out a conceptual and material research departing from my own emotions. My aim was to find a narrative that removed the pressure on individuals to “fix ourselves”, and rather speculated about the more social-cultural causes and dynamics that produce such an outburst of anxiety in the neoliberal culture.
The outcome was an installation that offered a space for the circulation of emotions and ideas and a space of conviviality with ourselves and others.
Spread on the table laid unglazed ceramic sculptures, alluding to anxious bodily parts, and each one of the three chapters of the master’s thesis. Everything was (hand)made using elemental techniques and materials in a way to resist the cultural imperative of (hyper)productivity to focus on the slowness of healing procesess and to emphasise their fragility.
